Robert Godfrey - October update
As expected, my first month on the road meeting with hirers in the South West of the UK ahead of the Executive Hire Show 2018 has been fantastic. Everybody is excited to again be part of such a great gathering of the industry. From the conversations I have been having, it looks like there will be more businesses attending than ever before.
I have travelled far and wide to meet with great people all linked to this industry, from multi-depot nationals to single-depot inspiring independents, all of whom work so hard to keep the hire industry so efficient and effective.
My visits have sent me to; Beautiful South Devon where I met with Jamie at Kingsbridge Hire; the Jurassic Coast town of Bridport to see Martin at Fowler Hire; The stunning Forest of Dean and Wye Valley in South East Wales with Idris at Eagle Plant and then the team at Hale and Co; Yeovil in Somerset with its great regional stalwarts YHC and Bradfords; and the stunning coasts of Pembrokeshire in West Wales where I caught up with the two Tims of Pembroke Hire Centre and Nigel at MPH Hire, as well as many other fantastic locations. I wish I could list them all!
A particularly great day of visits was had when I took the eastern Isle of Wight Ferry from Portsmouth down to Ryde, where I got to meet with Steve at Island Power Tools, Martin at Island Hire Centre and Richard at JMC. It was great to hear that passionate hirers were planning to cross land and sea to make it to the show. It just goes to show how much everybody cares about this industry. After a well-deserved nights rest in Newport, I hopped on the western Isle of Wight Ferry from Yarmouth to Lymington and headed home.
Soon enough it will be the Regional Roadshow in Filton. It seems like this the year is flying by! I hope to see all of you great South West and Wales hirers there, and if I haven’t seen you already as part of the national visitor campaign, look out for me in December and January.
