Steve McKenzie - December update

During December I visited hirers in Ormskirk, Southport, Liverpool, Worcester, Blackburn, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford, Morecambe, Blackpool, Birmingham, Whitchurch, Oswestry, Welshpool, Ashton, Oldham & St Helens!

Hirers were reporting good levels of business with equipment still going out on hire the week before Christmas. I called in to Burnley Hire Centre and spoke to Director, Carl Denson who is a regular visitor to the Show on Thursday with his wife Judith. There is always a warm welcome at Burnley Hire Centre and it is clear to see just how much their customers think of them. I spent some time chatting to Carl about current business levels and some of the issues that hirers are facing like plant theft. There are a number of exhibitors signed up for the 2018 Show that specialise in tracking and security solutions for plant and equipment including Cantrack Global, CESAR Scheme/Datatag ID and Trackunit.

I asked Carl if there were any specific products that they have found at the Show over the years that have been a positive addition to their hire fleet. He stated that they purchased a Fence Master from Post Pullers UK which has gone down really well with their customers. Contractors are reporting that they can remove in excess of 20 posts a day when they previously struggled to remove 4 posts in the same time! This obviously offers a massive saving in labour costs and is a great example of the sort of innovative products that visitors to the Show can add to their hire fleets and generate new revenue opportunities.

My schedule for January is packed with visits as we make the final push to encourage hirers to mobilise and attend the Show which will offer them benefits that will continue throughout 2018!
